Stand Builder Apprenticeship with GH Display
About the apprenticeship programme
This is a Level 2 Apprenticeship delivered in partnership with Northampton College. You will complete the Intermediate Painter and Decorator Apprenticeship (Construction and the Built Environment), which provides core training in:

Alongside your college training, you’ll gain real-world experience building and installing custom exhibition stands for clients across the UK and internationally.
About GH Display
GH Display is a custom exhibition stand builder based in Peterborough. We design, print, manufacture, and install bespoke exhibition stands across the UK, Europe, and worldwide. Alongside exhibition services, we also supply portable displays, event branding, storage, and stock management.
Our workshop is located at PE7 3SJ, and because it is not serviced by public transport, applicants must be able to travel by private vehicle.
The role as stand builder apprentice
As part of GH Display’s exhibition stand building team, you will gain experience in manufacturing and constructing exhibition stands and custom displays. This will include all aspects of the build from the design interpretation, workshop production, to graphic installation, painting, decorating, loading, transportation and on-site installation. The role combines a broad range of hands-on practical skills and trades, ensuring you develop broad, transferable skills.
What you will learn
As part of your apprenticeship, you’ll work closely with our skilled team to:

Construct exhibition and display stands in a variety of materials, including timber, aluminium and acrylic

Assist with carpentry, joinery, decorating, and finishing tasks
- Learn how to prep surfaces and paint in our spray booth
- Use a large range of power tools and workshop machinery

Support with basic electrical work, carpet fitting, and graphics installation

Help deliver, install, and dismantle stands at events across the UK and abroad

Learn to use CNC software and machinery

Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and teamwork
This role is hands-on and will often involve travel (both UK and overseas), working to deadlines, with early starts and late finishes during events.
Entry requirements
- Four GCSEs including Math’s and English at grade 3 or above required

A genuine interest in practical, hands-on work

Willingness to learn and work as part of a team

Good attention to detail and pride in completing work to a high standard

Physically fit and able to lift and handle equipment safely
-
Flexibility to travel and work varied hours when required
No prior experience in stand building is required — just enthusiasm, commitment, and a desire to learn.
