UK Apprenticeship Week is a time to recognise the value of apprenticeships in building careers, strengthening industries, and developing the next generation of talent.
Celebrating UK Apprenticeship Week: Investing in the Future of Project Management at GH Display
At GH Display, we’re proud to invest in young professionals who are shaping the future of our business and the wider exhibition and display sector.
This year, we’re celebrating our three Apprentice Project Managers: Zac, Hope, and Emily, who joined us after completing their A Levels and are now studying for a BSc (Hons) in Project Management with Anglia Ruskin University alongside gaining hands-on experience here at GH Display.
Their journey reflects exactly what modern apprenticeships are designed to achieve: combining academic study with real-world industry experience.
A Modern Pathway into Project Management
Traditionally, many young people felt they had to choose between university or employment. Apprenticeships offer the best of both worlds — and Zac, Hope, and Emily have embraced that opportunity.
After finishing their A Levels, each of them made the decision to begin their careers straight away while studying towards a degree qualification. Through their apprenticeship programme with Anglia Ruskin University, they are developing the technical knowledge, leadership skills, and commercial understanding required to succeed in project management.
At GH Display, they’re not just learning theory — they’re applying it every day.
From understanding client briefs, to liaising with our design team and coordinating exhibition builds from production through to installation, they are gaining invaluable insight into what it takes to deliver high-quality design and build display and exhibition solutions for events.
Learning by Doing
Project management in the exhibition and display industry is fast-paced and detail-driven. Every stand, event, and installation requires careful planning, communication, budgeting, and execution.
As Apprentice Project Managers, Zac, Hope, and Emily are involved in:
-
Supporting live exhibition projects from concept to completion
-
Liaising with clients and suppliers
-
Managing schedules and logistics
-
Budgeting and cost tracking
-
Ensuring quality and on-time delivery
This practical experience enhances their university learning and allows them to see first-hand how project management frameworks translate into real business outcomes.
By combining structured academic study with industry exposure, they are developing confidence, professionalism, and technical capability at an accelerated pace.
Growing Talent from Within
At GH Display, we believe in building talent from within. Apprenticeships allow us to nurture individuals who understand our values, processes, and commitment to quality from the very beginning of their careers.
Zac, Hope, and Emily have already become valued members of our team. Their fresh perspectives, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn bring real energy to our projects.
Investing in apprentices isn’t just about supporting individuals — it’s about strengthening our business for the future. By developing skilled project managers internally, we ensure continuity, innovation, and long-term expertise within the company.
Why Apprenticeships Matter
UK Apprenticeship Week highlights how apprenticeships benefit individuals, employers, and the wider economy.
For young people, they offer:
-
A debt-free route to a recognised degree qualification
-
Paid employment from day one
-
Real workplace experience
-
Career progression opportunities
For businesses like GH Display, they provide:
-
Access to emerging talent
-
The opportunity to shape skills around industry needs
-
Increased staff retention
-
A culture of learning and development
In sectors like exhibition and display manufacturing — where technical knowledge, organisation, and collaboration are critical — apprenticeships create well-rounded professionals who understand both theory and practice.
Looking Ahead
As Zac, Hope, and Emily continue their studies with Anglia Ruskin University, we’re excited to watch their development over the coming years. Their journey is a testament to the strength of the apprenticeship model and the opportunities available within the project management profession.
UK Apprenticeship Week gives us the perfect opportunity to say how proud we are of their commitment, progress, and contribution to GH Display.
They represent the future of our industry — skilled, motivated, and ready to take on the challenges of delivering outstanding projects for our clients.
At GH Display, we remain committed to supporting apprenticeships and providing meaningful career pathways within the exhibition and display sector.
